Defensive Carbine 2 builds upon the concepts learned during any of the above recognized prerequisite courses of instruction.

Recognized prerequisite courses:

TVSAA Defensive Carbine 1

Students attending the Defensive Carbine 2 course will be exposed to the following concepts of defensive Carbine craft.

Manipulation of the Carbine with both the strong and support hand, to include:

Emergency reloading
The tactical reload
Correct manipulation technique to charge the rifle
Malfunction clearance
Strong hand ONLY
Weak hand ONLY

Proper use of cover and cornering techniques, strong and support side.

Proper search techniques, room and area clearing.

Tactical movement

Shooting while moving forward, to the side or while retreating rapidly.

Standard response to a threat

Non-standard response to a threat

Alternate shooting positions

The development of combat accuracy and shooting proficiency, firing from the strong and support side, via:

Multiple range exercises at close quarters distance.
Multiple range exercises at distances from contact to 300 yards
Multiple qualification courses in which students must meet or exceed established standards of qualification for law enforcement special operations/SWAT personnel.

All scores fired in this section are recorded in order to provide a record of student proficiency.

Minimum qualification standards are approximately 90% or higher, with zero misses permitted.

Please note that these courses of fire will require the student to manipulate and fire their chosen carbine within extreme time constraints and the student will be firing these courses with both the strong side and support side.

Multiple range exercises requiring movement, movement to cover and the use of alternate shooting positions.

Dim light exercises (flashlight use)
