  Competition Handgun One:  

 

Students attending the Competition Handgun I course will be exposed to the following concepts of competitive pistol craft.

The basic fundamentals of marksmanship

Firearms safety

Cold ranges and hot ranges: How do they differ

Standard range commands

Selection of a Competition handgun

Proper car and lubrication of the competition handgun

Selection of holsters and related gear

Competition ammunition

Manipulation of the handgun, to include:

The four point draw
Administrative loading of the pistol
The slide lock  reload
The tactical reload
The Reload with retention
Malfunction clearance

Proper use of tactics in the competitive environment

Movement through doorways
Reading a stage
Shooting on the move
Determining target engagement order
The development of the ability to place accurate hits on target quickly.
Shooting techniques for close and distant targets.
Alternate shooting positions
The development of competitive accuracy via:
Multiple range exercises at close quarters distance.
Multiple range exercises in which multiple targets are engaged.
Multiple range exercises requiring movement, movement to cover and the use of alternate shooting positions.
